Digital Diet: Weaning Yourself Off Social Media and Mental Health
The use of social media is making many not so social and impacting your mental health.
A Practical Guide To Reaching Your Full Potential
Our lives are measured and enriched by those we are surrounded by, the quality of what we pour into them, who we pour into, and those who equally pour into us.
Life’s many challenges serves the purpose of strengthening our health, mindset, relationships, resilience, confidence, empathy, emotional intelligence, quality of life and faith in knowing every man can overcome the limitations of stress, anxiety, depression, social stigmatization, adversity, emotional despair, abandonment, trauma, disappointment, the fear of failure, aging, loneliness, and hopelessness by choosing a positive mindset and taking care of oneself to live a healthier and happier life.
In recent years, statistics show there has been a growing recognition of the importance and need of mental health and well-being for everyone. Yet, the one demographic that is often overlooked in this case is men. The societal pressures and expectations placed on men has lead to significant mental health challenges that often go unnoticed or unaddressed. The purpose of Living Well with WiL Men’s Health and Fitness Training and this article serves to shed light on the critical need for dedicated men’s mental health programs, resources, and men’s support groups.
For many generations, as young boys men have been conditioned to suppress their emotions, vulnerability, sexuality, and masculinity, which inhibits their ability to proactively seek help when facing their disparages with mental health issues. Such societal norms have perpetuated a stigmatic cycle of silence around men’s mental health, leaving many struggling in isolation. According to the American Psychological Association, men are less likely than women to seek help for mental health concerns, and are at a much higher risk for suicidal ideations.
Breaking Barriers
In recent years, there has been a positive shift in societal attitudes towards mental health, encouraging men and young boys to speak openly about their struggles. This shift has created men the platforms and opportunities to address the unique challenges they face and the importance of providing tailored supports which addedly address their mental, emotional and social needs. Men’s mental health programs such as those provided by Living Well with WiL Men’s Health and Fitness Training offer a safe space for men to prioritize their health, discuss their feelings, connect with other men facing similar challenges, and learn coping strategies to overcome their feelings of depression, and loneliness.
